WELCOME TO ARIL JEWELS
-
A little bit about us...
Aril Jewels makes fine jewellery with the soul of the past, designed and made by hand in London, for the way women actually live today.
If you’ve ever stood in a museum jewellery gallery and felt that pieces from the past have a warmth, character and joy that modern jewellery rarely matches - you’re exactly right. I have spent my career completely obsessed with it. But antique jewellery was mostly made for ladies delicately sipping tea who never had to do the washing up. I wanted to create jewellery that would be entirely yours, with your history and your meaning, that you could wear to work, on the tube, to a party, or while sipping tea, with all of the best qualities of jewellery from the past. That’s why Aril Jewels was born.

Our inspiration
Aril Jewels pieces draw on specific historical eras and iconic women from the past, but they are never direct replicas of historical pieces. The research goes deep, because that is where the interesting details are, and a history degree will do that to you. We look at what each era feels like - from jewellery (of course), to paintings, textiles, decorative arts, and cultural shifts - and try to distil that into a piece with an echo of the past but made very much for today.
Everything is handmade in London using antique old-cut diamonds and coloured stones I source and select myself, chosen for their individual character. Much of what we make is bespoke, working with clients on something completely one of a kind, with meaning built in from the start. The goal is always a piece worth keeping for a very long time, and perhaps handing down one day to become a future antique.

Why Aril Jewels?
The pomegranate has been a symbol of abundance, fertility, love, and marriage for thousands of years the world over. When extended as an offering, it signifies goodwill and the best of intentions from one heart to another. It is the jewel-like seeds that make up a pomegranate that are called arils. At the heart of Aril Jewels is the desire to express love and a connection with the past. So what more perfect symbol, or name, could there be?
