Elizabeth Collection
-
Named after Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603), the Elizabeth collection is inspired by the delicate floral motifs, colourful gemstones and stunning colour combinations of Elizabethan and Jacobean jewellery. We particularly drew inspiration from the Cheapside Hoard, the world’s greatest collection of Elizabethan and Stuart jewellery, found in our very own London. Discovered in June 1912 by workmen excavating a cellar of a house near St Paul’s Cathedral, this stunning collection contains almost 500 dazzling jewels and gemstones which remained hidden and undisturbed for centuries. They give an amazing glimpse into the Elizabethan and Stuart jewellery trade, showing that then, just as now, gems were sourced from all over the world to be masterfully handmade into jewellery in London. We think Elizabeth I herself would have thoroughly approved of these modern re-imaginings of Elizabethan jewels, after all, she was always pictured wearing stunning jewellery from head to toe!To learn more about the Cheapside Hoard, take a look at the Museum of London website hereWe are delighted that this award-nominated collection will be part of the Shine 2024 exhibition at the Goldsmiths' Centre in London until 20th December 2024.
