Georgiana Collection

Named after the Duchess of Devonshire, Georgiana Cavendish (1757-1806), the Georgiana collection is inspired by the amazing Georgian era in which she became an emblematic figure. A fashion icon and celebrity in her time, Georgiana was primarily celebrated for her captivating beauty, charisma and lavish style. However, she was also highly intelligent and contributed to politics, science and literature, blazing a trail for other women to have a voice in a male-dominated world.

The Georgiana collection is particularly inspired by two of the main Georgian obsessions: science and sentimentality. During the Age of Enlightenment, the night sky was an increasing source of fascination, and scientific discoveries in astronomy were highly celebrated. Look closely and you will see stars throughout the collection, reflecting this fascination with the celestial. The Georgians also absolutely loved romance and sentimentality. Towards the end of the Georgian era, acrostic jewellery boomed in popularity, particularly after Napoleon and Josephine made it fashionable in France. Acrostic pieces allowed loved ones to send coded messages, using the first letter from each gemstone to spell a word or name. We love this idea of sending a secret message to a loved one or even to yourself and have updated it with some more wearable versions with a modern twist. We think Georgiana herself would have adored acrostic jewels, particularly as an avid collector of gems! To give the whole collection a quintessentially Georgian feel, all the gems have been carefully set by hand in traditional ‘cut-down’ settings, in which the metal around the gem has been cut away to give the appearance of claws holding the stone. It’s such a beautiful way of showing off each stone and we love that it’s highly practical and durable for everyday wear.
